Hey everyone!

We’re back in Austin after our teaching world tour, and we wanted to give you a head start on our plans in Austin for the month of September.  We’ve got a very special musicality workshop planned, in addition to 2 levels of Tuesday night classes!  (And now that we’re offering a beginner-level class, don’t forget to tell your friends who haven’t yet tried Blues dancing…)  We look forward to dancing with you!

Rhythm and Bluesicality Workshop

Saturday September 11, 1-4:30pm
Galaxy Dance Studios in Austin

Great Blues dances come from great Blues music. Whether it’s hitting that break right where you want it, or expressing the build of the song in your dancing, the best Blues dancers are musical in every dance.

In this workshop, we’ll give you the building blocks necessary to master musicality — Rhythm to get your body moving as an instrument, Timing to fit your moves to the music, and Texture to make your style match the music. Don’t just let the music be in the background; feel the music, and use it to make your dancing even better.

Some blues experience preferred. No partner necessary.

Beginner Level: Blues Basics

Come and learn how to feel the Blues. Blues dancing is all about rhythm, pulse, and connection with your partner, as well as to the music. In this series, you’ll learn the basics of Blues, and gain the confidence to be able to dance with anyone.

Open to all levels. No Blues experience required. No partner necessary!

Intermediate Level: Ballroomin’ Blues

Ready to explore the smooth side of Blues? In this series, we’ll explore Ballroomin’ Blues — a style that mixes the rhythms and movements of Blues with the smoothness and lightness of the Ballroom styles. While staying firmly grounded, Ballroomin’ Blues can help you float across the floor.

Requires 3 months of Blues classes or teacher approval.
